Job Summary

Incumbent serves as Media Logistics Coordinator and is responsible for delivering a variety of services to members of Congress and broadcast personnel. These services include providing legislative information, assisting in arrangement of all types of media events with primary responsibilities in the Capitol Visitor Center studio space.

Major Duties:

  • Ensuring that adequate coverage of the office space is maintained during official business hours.

  • Handling incoming calls; answer routine inquiries, forward and/or take messages as appropriate.

  • Disseminate event information and updates to media, Members and staff.

  • Responds to inquires concerning House policies and procedures.

  • Provides on-site support to studios and all related office space.

  • Assists in the scheduling of Gallery studios and other media sites.

  • Computer support for daily office operations.

  • Assists with updating Gallery website.

  • Uses computer to access various types of information and documents as needed.

  • Creates Chamber log.

  • Assists Director periodically with planning and implementation of quadrennial national political conventions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Incumbent reports directly to Director, House Radio-TV Gallery and in the Director’s absence to the Deputy.  This position does not have day-to-day supervisory/managerial responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, political science or a discipline related to the position.

  • Detail orientated, self-motivated with effective communication skills.

  • Knowledge of legislative process.

  • Knowledge of broadcast industry.

  • Capitol Hill experience or news media experience is a plus.

  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and to function effectively in a fast paced environment under deadlines.

  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Working knowledge of and experience using various automated office systems and software programs.

  • A willingness to work the long and irregular hours the House is in session, including evening and weekend hours when required.
