Serve as Management Advisory Analyst responsible for providing Management Advisory Services on behalf of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), to various House offices and entities. Management Advisories involve the management and direction of all in-house and contract reviews focused on evaluating, streamlining, and improving the U.S. House of Representatives (House) practices and ensuring that House activities achieve the desired objectives. OIG Management Advisories focus on a variety of House operational, administrative, financial, and technology functions.
Major Duties:
1) Performs work within the assigned advisory area by evaluating and analyzing the area, executing approach, identifying opportunities for improvement, and making recommendations to management on corrective actions.
2) Performs management advisory services to (i) evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of House operational, administrative, financial, and technology functions, (ii) identify and recommend business process improvements through the application of process improvement concepts and methodologies such as LEAN Six Sigma, and (iii) advise management on meeting its tactical and strategic objectives using a risk-based approach.
3) Assists in the development of the advisory programs, assignment of resources, completion of field work, and preparation of draft reports.
4) Works independently with minimum supervision.
5) Simultaneously participates in or leads multiple advisory projects.
6) Performs risk assessments of House activities, prioritizes the results, and writes briefing documents for annual planning purposes.
7) Assists in proposing short- and long-range management advisory plans and priorities for the OIG, initiates actions to improve review coverage, quality, effectiveness, and the usefulness of advisory reports.
8) Assists in developing task orders, evaluating proposal bids, and managing contractor staff.

- Federal retirement. The U.S. House of Representatives participates in the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). However, retirement accumulation is calculated at a higher percentage rate than most Executive Branch entities.
- Student loan repayment program. Employees can be reimbursed for up to $10,000 per year (with a maximum of $60,000 in total) for federally backed student loans.
- Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The Office of Inspector General (OIG) has the option of allowing its employees to take the first 6 weeks of FMLA (e.g. for a catastrophic illness or birth of a child) as paid administrative leave. (FMLA is normally unpaid leave unless an employee uses his/her own annual or sick leave)
